'95 DSR E36 M3 (UPDATE AT BOTTOM)

This is a dyno of DSR's OBD I E36 M3. The car arrived at our shop with a relatively strong 209 HP @ the rear wheels. Using a 15% correction factor, we get approximately 246 HP at the crank. Of note, on our dyno, stock M3's (both 3.0 L and 3.2 L) usually put down somewhere between 197-210 HP at the wheels. We began by testing air intakes because of their popularity. After testing several different brands and netting about the same results from each, we chose to use the ECIS intake due to the fit, finish and price. With the install of the intake alone, HP jumped to approximately 216 @ the wheels. Next, we installed our DSR E36 M3 Sport cams, torque went through the roof! Before vanos activation, power remained virtually unchanged, but as soon as vanos kicked in, torque went ballistic and jumped some 15+ ft-lbs throughout most of the range. HP had now reached a strong 223 HP @ the wheels. Finally, with some fuel tuning to match the cams, we've reached 236 HP @ the wheels. Some final timing changes with GIAC custom software and we expect 240+ HP at the wheels which was our goal from the start.

We may eventually look into headers and exhaust, but for now, it's stock. At DSR, we've always said that when a car can dyno its engine rated HP but @ the wheels (normally aspirated), you've reached the 99% achievement level for that vehicle for bolt-ons.
